Welcome to the Club!
If you're seeing this, you've signed up as a member...now what?
My goal in creating this forum is to give us a place to connect and learn from each other on our individual journeys as costumers. Ever since I started making content, I have craved to recreate the costuming forums of my youth, so this is my crack at it!
I see this as a place to actively engage in a world that encourages passive consumption. Pop in once a week or twice a month, ask your questions, compliment your friends' projects, post a new photo, then move on with your life. We'll be here when you get back ๐ค
Here's how I would get started:
0) Adjust your Notification Settings
I don't want you to get annoyed with too many emails! Be sure to set your preferences for form notifications in your member dashboard.
1) Introduce Yourself
This is a thread in the Costume Chit-Chat category specifically for new folks to tell us about themselves and then read through and get to know current members. You'll notice I respond to every single new person, and that's because 1) I live here ๐ and 2) I want you to feel welcome and connected so that you make use of the forum as living costuming resource.
That said...
2) What do you need help with?
The Projects category is a place you can post about your WIPs if you want encouragement, and the Feedback Requests subcategory is where you can post if you really want opinions or input.
The reason I made the two categories separate is because sometimes people want to share project progress WITHOUT receiving advice. Personally, I think it's a shame when we share projects we're proud of or just having fun with and people come out of the woodwork with the ye olde "you know what you SHOULD do" comments, so the main Projects category is a safe place to be joyful/braggy/celebratory, and Feedback is for when you're actively seeking people to give you feedback.
Maybe we'll change this if it's confusing? Y'all let me know.
3) Use your discount!
One of the perks of being in the Costume Nerd Club is that you get the deepest possible discount on all Costume Coaching Sessions.
Use Code:

I will also always show my love for Costume Nerd Club members by giving you sneak peeks, special/exclusive/extended releases of videos, early access to events or workshops, giveaways, etc etc. Anything I can do special for y'all, I will!
Wait, is she just trying make money off of us??
This is a free community, completely open to anyone who wants to join and follow the community guidelines, and the one benefit I get from running it (besides socializing, which I love!) is that I have the opportunity to build relationships with each of you, so that if and when you need some more intense help, you'll feel comfortable booking with me. I decided against a paid membership because I think everyone deserves access to help from a community where they feel safety, comfort, and trust, and I hope that being generous with my time and transparent about my motives from the beginning will circle back to me as I begin to introduce more paid services like courses and workshops.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again for clarity: I'm here for the long haul. It could take years for my little business to be successful, but at least I know that every time someone books with me, it wasn't because I pressured or tricked them, it's because it's something they really want.
That's all for now!
As always, let me know if you have questions or suggestions. I really value the members of this forum and I'm grateful you've elected to spend time with me ๐ Now, let's get to nerding out!
Safety First,
Sumalee
