Sumalee Eaton

Costume Content Creator

Hey y'all, I'm Sumalee, a passionate lifelong Costume Nerd.

I fell in love with costumes at first sight and ever since, I've been asking myself, "how does one become a costumer?"

Over the years, I've been a professional costume stitcher, a wannabe historical costume hobbyist, an accidental costume designer, a transforming costume consultant, and many more things in-between-- but no matter where I was or what I was doing, I always felt like I should be doing something else to truly "become a costumer".

It was only in 2022, burnt out from sewing for other people and desperate to connect with folks who shared my passion, that I started making costume video content and realized... maybe there is no cut-and-dry definition of "costumer". The more friends I made and the more stories I heard, the more I started to think of costuming as an adventure, populated with characters from all backgrounds, facing all kinds of different obstacles-- and I realized that no two paths are the same.

Coming to grips with this truth has helped me channel passion into purpose. Everyone's costume journey looks different, and my new mission is to ensure that Costume Nerds everywhere have the resources and support they need to achieve their wildest, fanciest costume dreams with confidence.

If you are on your own costume journey, and you want companionship or help navigating this crazy world of costuming-- I'm your girl!

Connect with me on Tiktok or Instagram, listen to my podcast (The Costumer's Journey), join my Costume Nerd Club Forum, or book a Costume Coaching Session to get to know me better and learn how I can help you.

While I am very much still en route to achieving my own costume dreams, I am enjoying every milestone more than ever before, especially because I get to share it with you! Thank you to all who have helped me get here and inspired me to give back-- I am so excited to see what we'll create together.

xo,
Suma

Come hang out with people who "get it"! The Costume Nerd Club is a haven for sharing your costume ideas, collaborating on research, and getting a second opinion on your projects-- completely free to all who want to be part of it. Content

I make content that explores costume design from my unique lens as a stitcher/draper. I approach every topic with curiosity and engage my audience in a collaboration, rather than "teaching". You can always count on my content to be oddly specific and just a lil silly.

Coaching

I'm now offering one-on-one costume coaching sessions. I know what it’s like to feel lost in costuming, and I want to help those who share my passion to find their way. Sometimes all you need is to talk it out with someone who has more experience. If you need direction/planning, resources recommended, troubleshooting in the middle of a project, or just a friendly push to get started, book a session!
