is costume coaching?

Costumers who want to make progress on their dream projects. I work with cosplayers, historical costumers, aspiring designers, and people who dabble in a little of everything. The one thing they all have in common is that they absolutely love costuming and want to grow their skills. Is that you?
Why
should I book a session?
Costuming is your PASSION but you need some help with your next steps. Learning to make costumes on your own can be hugely overwhelming! Sometimes you just need an experienced costume friend who will listen to you and give you tailored advice and resources, and I absolutely love being that costume friend!
When
would I book a session?
When you need it. Book a single session to kickstart your journey, schedule regular sessions for accountability and support, or reach out when you're having a problem during your project. I'm here for you.
How
do the sessions work?
Book a session, tell me about yourself and your costumes, and we’ll take it from there. Sessions are 45 minutes long and every new client fills out an intake form so I can show up to the meeting on the same page. Every single costumer comes to me with a unique set of goals, skills, and obstacles, and walks away with a set of tangible next steps.
Why I started offering costume coaching
Building costumes has been my passion since I was a child, but I struggled to see myself as a costumer for years due to self doubt, perfectionism, and feeling clueless about what steps to take to achieve my goals.
There were times I couldn’t even admit that building costumes was my goal because I felt like such a miserable failure.
Now that I have turned a corner and am finally making the costumes of my dreams (after 20 years!), I want to make sure no one else EVER feels stuck the way I did.
I thought, “What did I need the most when I was at my lowest points?”
The answer was: to feel seen. I needed empathy from someone with experience. I needed someone to listen to my insecurities and help me discover what to do next.
So my coaching sessions were born from that idea: support for other costumers.
A fun, down-to-earth atmosphere where costume nerds can feel safe to express their craziest dreams and walk away with a strategy to make them a reality.
Sometimes all that is standing between you and the most amazing thing you’ve ever made is some well timed advice from someone with more experience.
